KALEIDOSCOPE
By Ray Bradbury
June 2015 / Directed by Rebecca Rouse / Play Häus Theatre Laboratories
In Play Häus Theatre Laboratories's production of KALEIDOSCOPE, the conditions of our physical existence become immediate and apparent in the last minutes of the lives of the seven astronauts of Apollo 99. After their moment of impact, the characters find themselves in full realization of what has always been their condition--falling through space, seemingly without a larger context. This stage adaptation of Bradbury's short story is an introspective of human purpose and frailty. The action is translated from an endless violent fall into deep space to stirring, fragile moments of stillness and drift amongst the members of an intimate audience.
